Will my phone show the right time on November 1?

Phones and computers get time zone rules through software updates. Because several provinces and territories changed their rules this year, a device that hasn’t installed recent updates could fall back by mistake on November 1. Install any pending updates beforehand, then compare your device with the correct times below.

British Columbia
Alberta
Northwest Territories
Manitoba

If your device shows the wrong time after November 1, setting the time zone manually to a place with the same year-round time usually fixes it until an update arrives. For Alberta and the Northwest Territories, Saskatchewan (Regina) matches; for British Columbia, Yukon (Whitehorse) matches.

Common questions

Which provinces still change their clocks?

Most of Ontario and Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador, and most of Nunavut. They fall back one hour on Sunday, November 1, 2026.

Is Manitoba changing its clocks in November?

No. In September 2026 the Province announced it will stay on daylight saving time permanently, so clocks will not fall back on November 1.

Does Alberta change its clocks in 2026?

No. Alberta now keeps Alberta Time (ABT), UTC−6, all year. Clocks no longer reset, beginning in November 2026.

Does B.C. fall back in November?

No. Most of British Columbia made its last clock change on March 8, 2026 and now stays on UTC−7 all year. Some communities in eastern B.C. keep Mountain time instead.

Why isn’t Ontario switching too?

Ontario passed a law in 2020 to adopt permanent daylight saving time, but the government has said it will only bring it into force if Quebec and New York State do the same.
